PM Announces Further Moves Against Fijian
Regime
"Our view clear again that it is rather ironic to have the Fijian military that fully backed a coup by their Leader, in their own country, then seeking to bring peace to other troubled countries," explained the Prime Minister today when asked what good New Zealand's representations were doing regarding the United Nation's continuing to use Fijian soldiers for peacekeeping missions.
Despite the New Zealand Government protesting the fact that the United Nation's continues to use members of the Fijian military – a military that has that has overseen the overthrow of a democratically elected Government - Fiji's peacekeepers still continue to be used by the UN.
Most of this afternoon's post-cabinet press conference related to what the New Zealand Government's final response was going to be following the recent expulsion of the New Zealand High Commissioner by Fiji's military regime.
