Lenin's Reality and Prachanda
Lenin came into power in 1918 after a bloody civil war, in between his supporters and the dissidents of Soviet regime.
Lenin thought any defeat was beyond his imagination and to win war and shield his so-called "Revolution", he would go to
every length-even at the cost of millions of innocent lives. This shows the absurd dominance was justifiable and
legitimate from the very beginning in the communist party. Lenin assumed the role of a dictator plying his main
instruments of terror, violence, suppression and assassinations. During his regime, all the opposition parties were
barred and protesters were silenced and only those who were sympathetic and shared the thoughts and principle of
Communism were tolerable. There was no private ownership, the state owned and controlled all enterprises and property.
People were simply not allowed to put an opinion contrary to that of the communist ideology. Brainwashing and propaganda
were significantly used to garner support and faith over communism. This trend soon became a characteristic of communist
regime.
Stalin, successor of Lenin, who came to the authority, as the leader of the communist party and the Russian government,
swiftly and viciously trampled every opposition including his own politburo members and alliances. The morals of
brotherhood, egalitarianism, universal justice, the plight of poor and working class slowly diminished over the years of
fraudulent and dictatorial rule by the violence and inhumanity. Thus communism virtually collapsed in Soviet Union and
in the Eastern-Europe and replaced by capitalism and democratic forces. Now the ideology of communist is almost
non-existent, apart from a couple of countries, in the world simply for its weaknesses in lacking political bases or
popular support, denying the competitive inherent trait of the humans, suppressing the people's desire for freedom and
imposing totalitarian regime.
At a time when communism no longer staying alive in anything more than a theoretical sense, Maoist leader Prachanda is
emulating the footprints of Lenin and digging the cemetery of almost washed out communist philosophy ostracized by the
world. It is no secret that Maoist ultimate aim is to establish a totalitarian, dictatorial communist regime in Nepal,
which no democratic international community can accept. In the name of 12 year's of blood-shed People's War, to build
their hold and recognition, Maoist's unleashed their terror attacks on innocent defenseless people, tore apart the
national unison and destroyed many essential infrastructures of the country–pushing the development of the country
further back for a decade and claiming 13,000 lives. To bring that senseless conflict to an end, the then government
initiated talks with Maoists but to no avail since the Maoists pulled out of it discarding the hopes and aspirations of
the people for peace despite the flexible approach by the government. Stricken by the power hunger in whatsoever way and
against all odds, these Maoists were direly willing to make the alliance with the royalists, self-admitted by Prachanda,
sidelining all the political parties. Now the same Maoists pretend to be allergic to the royalists terming them as
reactionaries- it is for the Nepalese citizen to fathom who is what? Recently Prachanda's provocative statement accusing
the palace of hatching the conspiracy to assassinate some of the US Embassy staffs and blaming the scandalous act on
Maoists speaks a lot about his character when he later on remained quiet after failing to generate a proof to confirm
his allegation.
When bargaining did not materialize with the palace, as a true chameleon, Maoists shifted its association to tie knot
with the previously ignored Seven Party alliance. When everyone thought, with a view of looking for a safe landing,
Maoists have sincerely come into the peace process, but it was not to be. They are still on offensive from all sides and
corners. After April uprising the stage was set to establish peace and stability in Nepal, much sought after aspirations
and mandate in that uprising, instead every party of the alliance seemed mudslinging and taking the credit of the
success of the move. Maoist have registered only 3500 weapons, mostly of them non-functional and home made, which only
constitute 10% of their total cadres, raises a lot of eyebrows. They have definitely preserved a lot of modern and
automatic weapons and cache of ammunitions to keep their terror and threat intact. Now despite the flexibility and
tolerance shown by the all spheres including the international community, Maoists have halted the second phase of arms
registration rusting the much coveted peace process.
After joining the government, no significant changes in their behavior and actions have come across, rather they have
attained the privilege and official passport to continue their terror activities in the day light which they had been
conducting covertly during their so-called people's war. Sometimes it gives a feel were we better off when Maoists were
in the jungle? Now when the Election commission has declared that the CA Polls can't be held on due time owing to some
"technical difficulties" Maoists have starting raising intolerable commotions through the cabinet, parliament and street
to declare republic from the interim parliament putting all the blame solely on PM Koirala. It is believed a
constitutional body like election commission would hardly come onto to the spell of the government to delay the CA
Polls. It is no denying that these technical difficulties have occurred due to the prevalence of the insecurity, chaos,
terror and violence in Nepal. Thus it is necessary to scrutinize who the real perpetrators are behind this
mess-unarguably Maoists? Maoists have only contributed to the augmented insecurity, turmoil and virtually distorted the
upcoming hopes of Nepal. Physical harassment of the Hotelier Hari Shrestha, distracting MPRFs protest in Birgunj and
remarkably the igniting Gaur Carnage, holding arbitrary Bandhs and strikes killings on personal vendetta, running a
parallel Policing System by YCL, smuggling of endangered species, attacking a Police Station in Banke clearly indicates
that these Maosits are no better than what they were a year ago. These all things when they are at the helms of
power-incredible!!! They have also been riding in the seized vehicles and using seized property and confiscating land in
the name of Nationalization-hilarious!!! It is questionable if the authority takes appropriate actions immediately
against their, high handedness, atrocities and undemocratic activities since they are in the Government and one of the
prominent stakeholders of the politics of Nepal with out any popular support and political bases.
Question arises are the people of Nepal sovereign enough to sketch the destiny of Nepal after the advent of Loktantra
(Liberal Democracy)? If they are then their will and mandate remains indispensable in coming to a decision on the
serious and significant issues. Deciding the fate of monarchy is a very sensitive and critical issue considering their
deep root in the socio-cultural aspect of the Nepalese and Hindu community for the last 238 years. The monarchy still
enjoys the huge following and backing of the people which should not be ignored by the sovereign and democratic regime.
Maoist are hell-bent on declaring Nepal a republic from the interim parliament, violating the 12 point memo where they
had agreed upon to decide the fate of monarchy by the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly, itself which every
democrats belief is worthless and absurd - such critical decisions should only be taken on the people's mandate and
their green signal. Here it is obvious that shrewdest of all, Maoist, who are very clearly acquainted with their
strength and weakness will try to avoid any polls since there is a constant threat of being thrashed out by the people-
who are fed up and exhausted with the double standards and ill-nature of the Maoists.
It is crystal clear, looking at the timelines; Maoists after coming into the national power are strongly eying for their
end state-establishing the totalitarian communist regime, as his doctor, Lenin, ordered. Maoist's fundamentalists posing
themselves as the supporters of democracy teamed up with them in the April Move, and now when their vested interests
have been met, they are secretly silencing democratic forces to forge a greater alliance with one dozen splinter
communist outfits along with UML to create the "Red Hazard" in the country.
Does any well-wisher or sympathizer of Nepal, wants "Red Hazard" wagging its tail in the country- do they want Nepal to
become a failed and non-functioning state with dictatorial Communist regime?-obviously not. Therefore, to safeguard the
nation in this hour of extreme crisis, every democratic force the traditional forces should forge the greater alliance
to foil the evil Dik Tat of Maoists and other like-minded outfits to re-generate true democracy.
