1230 – Greg O'Connor, Police Association President
The Commission of Inquiry into Police Conduct has released a very weighty report which I'm sure you've all heard about. Police Commissioner Howard Broad isn't happy – he's apologised to victims of police abuse and cover-ups and says he'll be keeping a close eye on officers, on and off duty. But Police Association President Greg O'Connor has warned against over-reaction to the report. At half past twelve I'll be asking Greg how he sees the report, and what kind of response he would like to see.
1250 – David Do, AUSA Education Vice President
Instead of AUSA President Lisieli, I'll be speaking with their Education Vice President David Do. He got pretty upset about some comments made by National Tertiary spokesman Paul Hutchinson's about the PhD student looking into bogan behavior. David says John Key needs to pull his minister's into line and he'll be here at ten to one to discuss why this kind of research is valid.
1315 – David Farrar, Vice President Internet NZ
Late last week, an international body called the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers voted against the adoption of an .xxx domain name for porn sites. The body is responsible for the co-ordination of unique identifiers on the net (like...) - quite a responsibility! The decision against the xxx domain name is being seen by many as overstepping their authority, and evidence of political meddling in what's supposed to be an apolitical body. David Farrar, Vice President for Internet NZ will be on the line at quarter past one to discuss the implications of the decision.
1330 – Selwyn Manning, scoop.co.nz
Scoops Selwyn Manning's back again at half past one, we'll be looking at the Police report in more detail, and perhaps some other bits and and bobs if we can find the time.
1345 – Ros Gill, London School of Economics Gender Department
Last week I went and saw a woman named Ros Gill give a public lecture all about sex and advertising. Fascinating stuff. Ros is the author of heaps of books about gender in the media, she's also a regular contributor to the Guardian, and has made 2 documentaries for the BBC, and when she's not busy with that, lectures at the London School of Economics. I sat down with her last week for a very interesting chat about what she calls midriff advertising. I'll be playing that at about quarter to 2.
