SCOOP COMMENT & OPINION

Environment: Pacific Ecologist No. 13: Climate & Poverty Solutions

- AUBREY MEYER & KAY WEIR outline a global action plan to reduce global warming emissions equitably, and transparently across nations. Contraction and Convergence is inclusive and allows everyone a fair share in a scheme for international emission entitlements. It has been the official position of the Africa Group of Nations at climate negotiations for the past 10 years. If such a democratic plan is not adopted soon to stop emissions rising to dangerous levels, the consequences will be disastrous for everyone. See... American Coup: Missouri Activists CampaignTo Bring Back Paper Ballots

    - Kansas City, MO. A diverse group of Missouri activists made history today when they announced a 2008 ballot initiative to return their state elections to paper ballots. The country has adopted electronic voting at a break neck pace since 2000 propelled by over $6 billion in subsidies by the White House and Congress. See... Iran: Comment On The Prospects Of A New War

    - When you hear a word like "bonkers" coming from the mouth of a Nobel laureate, you know he's at wit's end. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is not the only one afraid the US will attack Iran. See... Russ Wellen: Greatest Expectations [1] MORE:
