As the Government has been moving swiftly to defuse the dispute over a planned Landcorp sale at Whenuakite of land claimed by the Hauraki Iwi and subject to a Treaty Claim, the Maori Party are calling for comprehensive review of the Treaty Settlement Process.
With party leader Tariana Turia in Wanganui to mark the passing over of land to the Whanganui Iwi and fellow MP Hone Harawira attending a hui at the Whenuakite land occupation site today's press conference was held by Maori Party Treaty Spokesperson Te Ururoa Flavell.
Mr Flavell warned that if issues such as that at Whenuakite and others were not better dealt with Maori would have no choice but to mount further occupations in order to ensure they were listened to.
