The Wednesday Wire Hosted By Paul Deady 28/02/07

1220 - Gary Reese - Campaign Manager for Amnesty International NZ

Last Week, an Egyptian blogger by the name of Abdel Kareem Nabil was put in jail for 4 years. His crime? He spoke out against anti-Christian rioting in Alexandria. The authorities say he insulted Islam and defamed the President and has to pay for his crime. I'll be speaking to Gary Reese from Amnesty International about the case and what it means for freedom of expression.

1235 - AUSA President

1250 - Lindsay Freer - Catholic Church NZ spokesperson

James Cameron, the genius/dickhead behind the biggest movie of all time Titanic is back with a new documentary about Jesus. But what a documentary it is! He reckons Mr. Christ's tomb has been found with bones in it! and What's more, right next to him, were the bones of his wife and child. Lindsay Freer, spokesperson for the Catholic Church of NZ will be jouining me at 1250 to discuss the claims which, if true, sort of negate the whole basis of Christian belief.

1320 - Nigel and Ryan from the Downlow Concept

The Downlow concept is responsible for some of the grossest, most purile and some might say BEST television, radio and miscellany to some out of the country for some time. Two of the minds behind Pop Goes the Weasle and the 48 hour film contest-winning "Brown Peril" will be joining me in the studio at 1320 to talk about their recent trip to India and Iran where they were busy making some radio documentaries.

1345 - John McInteer, spokesperson for Hauraki Iwi

Hauraki Maori are to meet with Treaty Negotiations Minister Mark Burton to try and hammer out a compromise in the sale of some Corromandel land, which still has a claim pending. A number of Maori have been occupying the disputed land while Landcorp lines up the highest bidder. Hauraki spokesperson, and very busy man today, John McInteer will be on the line at 1345 to tell us about the latest developments.

Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
