The Wednesday Wire Hosted By Paul Deady

THE WEDNESDAY WIRE for December 13th

Hosted by Paul Deady

1200 bNews/weather/surf - with Amelia

1215-1230 Roslyn Noonan – Chief Commissioner for the Human Rights Commission
Two days ago it was International Human rights day, and to commemorate the occasion our Human Rights commission released a report which said most of the complaints they received had to do with race. This morning I spoke to Chief Commissioner Roslyn Noonan about why this is the case, and whether or not it's cause for alarm

1240-1250 Conal Tuohy
At twenty to one I'm going to be talking with Conal Tuohy. He's from an organization called the New Zealand Electronic text centre who are trying to create a free online library of New Zeland and Pacific Island texts. He'll on the show to talk about the work their doing in Wellington as well as other developments in the world of electronic publishing and just where books are headed.

1310-1320 Bridget Conor
At ten past one I'm going to be talking film with Bridget Conor. Earlier this week there was a bit of a brouhaha surrounding will or won't we have the next Narnia film in New Zealand. But it didn't seem like anyone weighed up the pros and cons of the outcome. Bridget knows a thing or 2 about big film companies taking advantage of New Zealand for their productions – she wrote her thesis on the subject while those Lord of the Rings things were going on. So she's going to talk about whether or not we want this film here at all.

1330-1340 Blink
At half past one I'll be speaking to a guy called Blink. Poor old Blink, what with everyone all a twitter about b street this weekend, it could be easy to overlook the fact that the night before, his Low Hum tour will play it's final show EVER in Auckland at the Kings Arms. He'll be here to take a trip down memory lane, perhaps, and try to convince you that there's at least one more indie rock hooley you need to go to this weekend.

1345- 1355 TV Review with Regan
And rounding out the show at 1340 we'll have a TV review with Regan from throng.co.nz. And because 2006 is drawing to a close, he'll be a doing a super special countdown of the 10 best TV moments of the year. This week he's going to do numbers 10 through 6, and then next week the top 5 c-c-c-c-countdown.

Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
