This afternoon NZ First Leader Winston Peters pointed out to the media that his party would repay parliamentary funds if the Auditor-General could convince his party of what it did wrong.

"On initial consideration parts of the report appear contradictory and contestable, and Chapman Tripp's independent legal opinion also casts doubt over the report's legal sustainability," said Mr Peter's in a press statement.

At his media conference Mr Peter's expressed bewilderment that a pamphlet he said was printed outside the time limit's of the Auditor-General Kevin Brady's report was found to be unlawful. Mr Peter's pointed out that the pamphlet was still being delivered to this very day and yet the Auditor-General had decided NZ First was liable for the entire cost of the pamphlet as some pamphlets were delivered within the election time frame that the Auditor General confined his report to.

Listen to NZ First Leader Winston Peters explain why he will be querying the Auditor-General's findings regarding the way parliamentary funds are spent by political parties
