A key aide to presidential political strategist Karl Rove resigned Friday in the wake of congressional report that
listed hundreds of contacts between disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the White House.
Susan Ralston, special assistant to President Bush, submitted a resignation letter to him less than five weeks before
the midterm elections.

Truthout Editor's Note: Ralston previously worked as a personal secretary to Jack Abramoff, the Republican power lobbyist who plead guilty to
conspiracy and wire fraud charges in connection with defrauding Indian tribes. While working with Abramoff, Ralston
arranged fundraisers and events at Washington MCI Center skyboxes for members of Congress and their staff. Ralston
communicated with Rove on Abramoff's behalf on tribal affairs.
Ralston also became embroiled in Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's CIA leak probe. She reportedly testified before
a grand jury about the reasons she did not log a telephone call to Rove in July, 2003 from Time magazine reporter
Matthew Cooper, who says he was told by Rove that Valerie Plame Wilson worked for the CIA. -ma/TO
