Text
& Audio: Govt Plans Changes To Frequency Allocation
Plans
The Government has announced it will provide
for up to four new FM radio stations in each region of NZ,
and strengthen the role of local broadcasters. It plans to
auction commercial frequencies with conditions yet to be
finalised. Communications Minister, David Cunliffe, talks to
KiwiFM's Wammo about small stations on low power frequencies
or stations that have out grown their position or license
moving to either the new commercial or non-commercial
frequencies. A student station like bFM could be an example
of this. Russell Brown is also IVed on the issue.
