Politics: Key Not A 'Hardcore Hard Right Winger'
In a clear bid for leadership of the National
Party, MP John Key says in a radio interview he believes the
minimum wage should keep rising and implied that Dr Brash is
one of the 'hard right wingers' who believes in getting rid
of the minimum wage altogether. "Is Mr Key ignorant of his
party's hard right wing stance on the minimum wage, or is he
attempting to rewrite it as part of his power play for
leadership?" says Minister of Labour Ruth Dyson. See...Brash

Satire: Calls For Calm As Parliamentary Ceasefire
Falters
- New Zealand's legislative assembly is about to enter the sixth full day of a Speaker-imposed ceasefire, but initial indications are that the hard-won peace will not last. Volleys of barracking, or as it has come to be known 'barraging', have already begun to fly and the Speaker has called for restraint. The lull in hostilities followed weeks of unprecedented rhetorical violence.See... Hood: Shaky Parliament Ceasefire Enters Sixth Day [1]

Essay: Education for Children in Congo Armed Conflict
Zone
- Over two years since the official end of
the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), an
estimated 30,000 people continue to perish every month in
conflict-related deaths. Over 4 million people have been
displaced. The physical abuse of civilians by the military
continues largely unpunished, and children remain at high
risk of use by armed groups, family separation and rape.

Keith Olbermann’s Special 911 Comment on Bush
- "History teaches us that nearly unanimous support of a government cannot be taken away from that government, by its critics. It can only be squandered by those who use it not to heal a nation’s wounds, but to take political advantage. Terrorists did not come and steal our newly-regained sense of being American first, and political, fiftieth. Nor did the Democrats. Nor did the media. Nor did the people.
