Environmentalists say they're horrified that DoC has moved 170 native Augustus snails from its natural environment into, reportedly, a bunch of ice cream containers in a fridge. The Save Happy Valley Coalition has been fighting Solid Energy's plans to start coal mining in the valley which is on the West Coast just north of Westport. Frances Mountier of the Coalition sez Solid Energy is breaching their permit and driving a species to extinction
