Associate Minister of Health Damien O'Connor today released a consultation document proposing large, graphic images of health problems on the front and back of tobacco product packets.
O'Connor describes the move, aimed at discouraging smoking, as "truth in labelling".
At a press conference today, the Minister and Ashley Bloomfield, the Ministry of Health's Chief Advisor on Public Health, discussed the images, the labelling proposals and their likely benefits.
