Solomon's island police officer reads the morning paper outside Parliament just minutes before the prime minister stood down.

Police snipers take up positions around the Parliament roof. A heavy military presence was in force around Parliament including aust/nz army with light machine guns/assault rifles/sniper rifles/ covering roads. Huey helicopters were also on orbits around Parliament with snipers on board. Streets leading up to Parliament were cordoned with machine gun positions.

After the resignation large crowds formed in the streets rejoicing the decision.

A large crowd then made its way to the oppositions party's HQ. There they met opposition MPs along with a large media contingent. The crowd at the scene was approximately 1500 strong. The shots that follow are from this location.

The hands of the people celebrate in unison after Snyder Rini`s resignation. The day has seen an emotional turn-around with thousands taking to the streets in celebration.
