Tanveer Jafri: America-Iran War - May Be Or Not

America-Iran War: May Be Or Not

By Tanveer Jafri - India

A guess about the possibility of America-Iran war in near future is going on. War experts aren’t unanimous in this matter. Some people, who have strong belief in the limitless power of America & are well aware of the war policies of America for the last 200 years, say that America shall attack on Iran’s Uranium Enrichment Installations to teach Iran a lesson. There may be some underground atomic attacks in it. Whereas Mr. Bartlet, who is a senior advisor of American President George Bush, has said that it isn’t right to reach such a conclusion. Bartlet said that routine preparation of American Defence & Intelligence shouldn’t be the basis of such conclusions. On the other hand, a big faction of war analysts believes that George Bush, who has been facing internal opposition in America for its erred attack on Iraq, can’t easily dare to attack Iran. The thoughts of these war experts get strength by these words of the senior advisor of George Bush- ‘America is bound to have statesman like solution of Iran’s atomic affairs.’

The present position of the Uranium Enrichment Programme is that this affair doesn’t seem to be solved according to the desire & willingness of America. In the last days, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohammad Al Bardei went to Iran & made an unsuccessful attempt to bring sound the Iran leadership to abandon this sensitive programme as of Uranium Enrichment. Iran’s visit of Al Bardei was after this declaration of Iran’s president Mehmood Ahmedi Nijad that ‘Iran has succeeded in its Uranium Enrichment Programme.’ About its Uranium Enrichment Programme, Iran is saying again and again that it’s completely peaceful. Whereas some western countries, including America doubt that Uranium Enrichment Programme under the curtain of increasing electric production, Iran is trying to develop its nuclear weapons.

Although Al Bardei remained unsuccessful to persuade Iran to abandon its Uranium Enrichment Programme, yet he said- ‘His discussion regarding trust feeling with Iran was positive.’ During this important discussion, International Atomic Energy Agency & Iran have agreed to continue further discussions for next some weeks. It is known that on the March 29, ultimo, United Nation Security Council gave a month’s time to Iran to abandon its Uranium Enrichment Programme. This time limit will end on April 28. Bardei’s Iran visit is also important in this regard in Tehran after having a talk to Ali Lari Jani, middleman of Iran in atomic affairs, Al Bardei hoped- ‘There is still enough time to solve this affair where Iran’s need for atomic energy can be fulfilled & worries of international group regarding development of atomic weapons can also be removed. Bardei’s unsuccessful visit to Iran can clear the way for imposing sanctions on Iran by Security Council. America & European Union are also in favour of imposing sanctions on Iran while permanent members of Security Council, Russia & China are, at present, not in favour of imposing sanctions on Iran.

On the other side, Iranian leadership has right attitude on atomic matters. President of Iran Mehmood Ahmedi Nijad, in his fresh note has said- ‘Iran will not move back even an inch regarding its nuclear programme. Those who are angry with Iran’s nuclear policy, we have a single answer to that- Remain angry & burn yourself in that fire of anger.’ Aiming at Israel, he said in one of his statements- ‘Israel is a danger for all the countries of Middle East & it is sure to end.’ Giving a warning, Nijad said, Israel is like a rotten tree & it will be reduced to ashes in a single storm. He asked America- ‘doubts are being expressed on the mass killings of Jews but in the last 60 years, mass killings of Palestinian citizens aren’t being doubted.’ Nijad repeated again, ‘why should Palestinian citizens pay for the cruelties against Jews in the second world war?’ Keeping in view of this threatening speech of Nijad, the former prime minister of Israel, Simon peres has asked America & United Nations to take action against Iran. The supreme spiritual leader of Iran, Ayatulla Khamnai, in his clear message to the Muslim World has warned –‘not to bow to knees before American colonization. So said liberal democracy is like a poison & global colonization policy under American President has become a danger for the Muslim countries.’

The above circumstances are sufficient to understand that regarding Uranium Enrichment Matters, in future, Iran may have to face sanctions thrusted upon it by United Nations or may have to face the American attack. But at present Iran is not willing to move back, at any cost, on his Uranium Enrichment Programme. On the other hand George Bush & his war favouring allies are in a fix. The policies adopted in Iraq war by American defence minister Ramsfield are not only being criticized now but his resignation is also being asked for. Surprisingly, the persons who are asking for resignation of Ramsfield are neither common citizens of America nor political opponents of George Bush. These are 6 former generals who have worked under Ramsfield & one American general who has worked NATO forces. They have accused him of inability, arrogance & neglect of military consultations & have asked for his immediate resignation. All of these generals have said that Iraq military plan was completely unsuccessful. They have also charged that Ramsfield has done several mistakes regarding military maneuvering in Iraq.

Instead of it foreign minister of America; Condoleezza Rice has warned that if Iran ignores the warning regarding abandonment of its Uranium Enrichment Programme, it may have to face its consequences. According to Rice under such circumstance Security Council can think of action under article 7 of law of United Nations. But Iran’s stiff attitude for its Uranium Enrichment Programme, a continuous new lesson to America because of unsuccessful military project in Iraq & continuous opposition of George Bush in America, because of his foreign policies, at present, is unable to lead the defence critics to any result whether America will dare to attack Iran or not? Whether Security Council will succeed to stop the Uranium Enrichment Programme of Iran or not? Whatever it is, humanity will be benefited only if there is no war. If America succeeds in persuading Iran by its political strategy, really it will be a comfortable happening for the humanity. At the same time Iran should promise to United States that at any cost, it will not manufacture nuclear armaments in the guise of the Uranium Enrichment Programme.
