Scoop Audio: Housing Minister Chris Carter today called in the chairman of the Board of Housing New Zealand Corporation (HNZC) for a full explanation of the allegations raised in the Herald on Sunday about the Corporation’s accounting practices.
The Herald on Sunday's allegations centred around a letter sent by the Corporation to a former contractor prohibiting him from discussing his concerns with Ministers or MPs.
After meeting with Board chairman Pat Snedden the Minister held a short press conference. Both Mr Snedden and Mr Carter were available to answer the media's questions.
According to a press release from the Minister's office the Board has approached the Office of the Auditor-General to conduct an inquiry, under terms of reference jointly signed off by the Board and Office of the Auditor-General.
