RDU Audio: Outdoor Recreation Chat About Divorce From United Future

The Board of Outdoor Recreation New Zealand (ORNZ) has terminated its agreement of affiliation with United Future", said Acting Chairman Phil Hoare today.

Mr Hoare implied in a press statement that ORNZ had some difficulty with the "evangelism" coming from the 'Future' side of United Future

"We have had a very warm and constructive personal working relationship with United Future Leader Peter Dunne, but have had some difficulty with the evangelism from the Future side. They have at times derailed our commitment to work for the mutual benefit of ORNZ and United members interests.

United Future leader Peter Dunne took exception to the inference from ORNZ that united Future was a religious party.

"The election was over 6 months ago now, so all the ORNZ statement does is recognise the reality we have been operating under since that time.

"Comments about United Future's religious overtones are misplaced and inaccurate.

"United Future has no religious affiliations nor evangelistic agenda to push.

That is the role of the church, and it is not for a political party to do the church's work for it," said Mr Dunne in a press statement.

ORNZ's Acting Chairman Phil Hoare was this morning interviewed about the split away from United Future by RDU's morning host Wammo.
