Audio: Pankhurst Apologises For Offending Muslims + Javed Khan IV
Tim
Pankhurst: "They recognise the freedom of speech
issues, but we also accept that that does not come without
responsibilities. We have agreed to apologise for causing
offence that we have, but we don't resile from that fact
that we did published in the first place in the context
where the reaction had become the story… "We have also
agreed given the degree of offence that this has caused, to
an extent that none of us had expected, that it would not be
wise and we see no reason to reproduce those cartoons, …"

Rongo Wetere Responds to Criticism Over Handling Of Cuban
Literacy Programs -
I have read the opinion of Julie Webb-Pulman, and wonder how she can arrive at some of her conclusions. Particularly around the fact, that she thinks I am guilty of fraudulent behaviour, and thinks the only reason I am not locked safely away is that. See... Nats Want Stun-Guns But Advise Caution
- National's Simon Power says it is essential that trials of stun guns by police should be well monitored and transparent: “As long as we continue to have unarmed police in New Zealand we should not, at this point of time, be ruling out using stun guns. However, National wants to ensure there is a thorough and well monitored trial of the guns, and full transparency in the decision-making process." See... Care needed over stun gun trial [1]

Satire:
When Humpty Dumps With Riotous Applause
- Lyndon Hood satirises… Outrage over cartoons which first appeared in Scandinavia, some of which are offensively critical of the whole idea of opening hard-boiled eggs at the wide end, is spreading into riots, violence and trade disputes worldwide. Some believe this event may have brought the clash between Big- and Little- Endian egg-opening to a head. See... Rage Over Round-Ended Egg Opening Escalates [1]

Media: Prophet Muhammad Cartoons Depict More Than
Culture-Clash
- Paul Buchanan writes that the
publication of cartoons depicting the prophet
Muhammad have raised the spectre of a deepening cultural
clash between Islam and the West... The issue is one of
pre-modern versus postmodern perspectives on life... One
person’s blasphemy is another person’s parody.
