Christmas Message From The Scoop Team
As we approach the end of our sixth year online we can report Scoop Media continues to solidify itself in the New Zealand and international media fraternity. During the 2005 New Zealand General Election, references to Scoop's reports and investigations appeared in city and provincial daily newspapers and radio – we were interviewed and asked to interpret issues affecting politics, business, and society.
Today, Scoop is frequently referred to and cited in all sectors of both mainstream and independent media. Scoop's editorial team can be heard weekly on Auckland's 95bFM, Christchurch's RDU, Wellington's Radio Active, Australia's Adelaide Radio, fortnightly on New Zealand's RadioLive, and regularly on BBC Radio (London and World Service stations), and occasionally on NewstalkZB.
2005 saw Scoop used as a source of specialised political commentary, inhouse text and audio reports, and, as a conduit to raw news released to Scoop from New Zealand political parties, politicians, businesses, NGOs, departments, ministries, tertiary bodies, schools… virtually all entities that exist in this vibrant and complex community of ours.
The year has included a mix of happy and sad events: all the twists and turns of the General Election, the death of former New Zealand Prime Minister David Lange, and the tragedy and shock of Green Party co-leader, Rod Donald's death. We have brought you thorough and insightful analysis of the global scene publishing facts, findings and conclusions of investigations crafted by some of the most impressive columnists that can be found today. Scoop has achieved world scoops in a number of areas most recently while investigating the plight of Harmeet Sooden and three others who were taken hostage in Iraq in late November and who have not been heard of for several weeks now.
But positive highlights for Scoop occur often, especially when we connect people to the right issues, the right information, and aid them to acquire an informed opinion that empowers them to make change for the betterment of their families, societies, and environment.
This year, Scoop continued to evolve, re-launching its front-end to present you with an improved user-interface, navigation, and internet news environment. This re-design took all the best elements of what we had and built them into a structure that allows the Scoop team to "sectionalise" your news. You can see these changes in the way we present scoop Lead stories and examine the big issues of each day via the New Zealand news section, International news section, and special subject sections on the Scoop front page.
Within the Scoop front page you will notice we have embarked on offering you a complete multimedia experience. Scoop now offers you text, images, audio, and video reports on issues that demand to be told. We plan further advances and improvements in the new year, and as always encourage interactivity from you… always welcoming your feedback via the feedback tag at the top of every Scoop page.
Editorial Staff: My colleague and fellow Scoop co-editor Alastair Thompson and I would like to give a special mention to go to our editorial team.
Scoop chief reporter, Kevin List, who has continued to report Parliament and politics publishing probing investigative works on Scoop. Kevin can also be heard issuing his weekly radio report on Christchurch's RDU and Wellington's Radio Active. His "A Week Of It" column continues to prove popular and provides a well crafted insight into all things media and political…
Scoop's Lyndon Hood joined the fulltime team in August and is known to many due to his columns on the blog Fighting Talk. Lyndon's satire pieces offer a well reasoned lighter approach to the week's happenings and his graphics and processing talents ensure Scoop continues to develop and improve in presentation and ease of subject recognition.
Scoop will continue to report with a "skeleton staff" through the Christmas and New Year period and will be fully back on board from January 9.

So from the Scoop team, we wish you a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous and peaceful New Year. Be safe, be seen, and take care.
