Investigations Into Field's Conduct Force Denial

Scoop News: Investigations Into Minister's Conduct Force Denial Statement

Investigations into alleged impropriety by Labour Cabinet Minister, Taito Phillip Field have been widened after fresh allegations surfaced. An Onehunga family has come forward claiming Field purchased their home for $259,000. Phillip Field is reported as having later sold the home for $395,000.

Television New Zealand has reported that an anonymous Auckland man claims Field wrote a letter supporting a work permit for a 46-year-old man who later painted three of Field's houses.

A QC was appointed to investigate an initial claim that Field had inappropriately used his position as a Cabinet Minister for his own gain by striking a deal with another Thai man to tile a residence in Samoa while Field sorted out his immigration problems. The QC will now investigate further claims of inappropriate conduct.

The claims have forced Phillip Field to issue a statement where he denies asking Mr Chaikhunpol to paint his house. He says he did however ask a tenant to repair damage to the interior of the residence. Mr Chaikhunpol and the tenant have confirmed via statements that this is correct.
