Never Mind The Bollocks: Here Are The Marginal Predictions

Scoop Image:
Parliament's debating chamber. Selwyn Manning writes that while the major focus of this year's election campaign coverage has firmly examined Don Brash and Helen Clark's performances, there's a fight taking place out in the marginal seats and even a high-placed Cabinet minister looks likely to lose. Scoop can confirm National is gaining traction. Even in the south Auckland electorates, while Labour will hold Manurewa, Manukau East, Mangere, the traditionally large election night Labour majorities are promising to be slashed. See... Labour Releases Its Foreign Affairs and Trade Policy

- Prime Minister Helen Clark and Foreign Minister Phil Goff today launched Labour’s Foreign Affairs policy, saying New Zealand’s nuclear free legislation was too important to New Zealanders for parties’ positions to be left unclear. Labour is promising to maintain New Zealand’s nuclear free status, and is challenging National to state its support for the nuclear free legislation. “We believe the overwhelming majority of New Zealanders want to keep New Zealand nuclear free, independent, and committed to playing a role in creating a more peaceful, prosperous and stable world,” Helen Clark said. Dunne's Serious Concerns About Maori Seats Yet To Translate Into A Bottom Line -

A Maori Perspective On The Playing Of The Race-Card

    - I've seen and experienced a lot of racism in my 62 years, but never such a full-on poll driven cynical assault. And I realised just yesterday that my own overwhelming response is fear as well. I realised that I'm frightened about the consequences of that policy, and of the choices I might have to make that I don't want to make, if they try to implement it. See... Greg Palast On The 4th Anniversary Of 911

    - In the War on Terror, we are all on the front lines. Now Southold has apparently been targeted by Al Qaeda. I'm not surprised. Southold, if you look at a map, is situated at the ass end of nowhere. We are known for our Strawberry Festival and fire truck parade. Immigration & The Election

    - This year, as with every election year, migration is a hot issue amongst politicians vying for the public’s vote. National Steps In To Stop The Devil Finding Work for Idle Hands -

National has today announced its long awaited work-for-the dole scheme under the guise of an 'environment policy', Social Development and Employment Minister Steve Maharey said today. "As usual, no costing was provided for this policy, despite it being previously estimated at around $100 million a year," Steve Maharey said.
