Operation Waikowhai: Police Call In Criminal Profiler Experts

- Members of the Police Criminal Profiling team will today assist the homicide team investigating the death of 22 year-old Mt Roskill resident, Katrina Jefferies. Miss Jefferies' body was found in Waikowhai Park at about 8.20am on Tuesday morning and the officer in charge of the homicide inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Gerry Whitley said the profiling experts were being consulted to see what they could add to the investigation. Supercomputer Weather: Hurricane Emily Heads For Crawford

- Hurricane Emily, which has now reached Category 3 intensity making her the second official "major hurricane" of the 2005 season - and which is forecast to continue to intensifying to at least Category 4 status - may now to be headed for a Texas Coast landfall, directly through the Texas offshore oil fields. According to the latest long range computer forecast from the NOAA GFS mode Emily will come ashore in the United States midway between Freeport and Corpus Christi on July 20th. See... Scoop Report: Romania Shaken By Flood Disaster And Agricultural Losses

- Contacts in Romania say 11300 homes have been destroyed by flood-waters, and 70,000 animals have perished. Worst hit is Romania’s south east region where much of the nation’s agricultural heart lies. Concerns exist for what this means for the nation’s future wellbeing. UN Chief Seeks Expansion Of Security Council

- Pressing ahead with his proposal to enlarge the United Nations Security Council, which has primary responsibility for the maintenance of global peace and security, Secretary-General Kofi Annan has said the 15-member body is not sufficiently democratic or representative of the world organization’s vastly increased membership. “I think we all have to admit that the Council can be more democratic and more representative,” Mr. Annan told reporters yesterday of the body whose membership total has remained unchanged since 1965, when the UN itself had only a fraction of its current 191 member states. “There is a democracy deficit in the UN governance that has to be corrected.” See... - Looks like Karl Rove did break the law, the same federal law that got Martha Stewart sentenced to six months in prison. It now appears that Rove, President Bush’s chief of staff, may have lied to the FBI in October 2003—a federal crime—when he was questioned by federal agents investigating who was responsible for leaking information about a covert CIA operative to the media. Peters Launches Offensive On Right Flank And Releases Brash Letter

- A concerned constituent passed on a most disturbing letter from the so-called leader of the opposition basically trying to threaten the Grey Power executive. (Read out Brash complaint and Grey Power reply - 1st letter from Brash 21 June; 2nd letter from Grey Power 28 June). This is a most troubling development in the way some conduct their politics in this country. For example, over the last four months, whenever I have campaigned at Grey Power meetings, the National party has seen fit to bombard vehicles outside the meetings with their paraphernalia, including parking their candidates’ vehicles, signatured, in the carpark.
