1000 Peace Women Organization Is Building Peace

1000 Peace Women organization is mobilizing and building capacity of women and civil society at large to contribute to peace. This organization also helping bring about drastic and conceptual changes. It also support all actions against the war. So, it has important and effective roles to play in peace resolution.

The organization also play an important role in facilitating the "women and peace" type of tribunal by systematically exploring and sharing lessons from other countries' experiences. 1000 Peace Women organization can thus be seen as an important part of the natural immune system of the body politic, which should be mobilized to prevent war and bring peace and to help resolve the factors which give rise to conflicts on women. 1000 Peace Women organization has played crucial role in raising issues concerning peace and women rights. It has been creating mass awareness through various programs. It has been working directly with the women and have been able to build trust among women.

This year 1000 women from more than 150 countries are jointly nominated for the famous Nobel Peace Prize. The official nomination was submitted to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Oslo in January 2005.

1000 Peace Women organization are the group of women who believe that solidarity is one of the deepest values of their existence, that active solidarity between women is the force and the tenderness by which women can overcome isolation, loneliness, traumas and other consequences of hatred.

During 2004, nominees were sought from across the globe with the help of the 20 coordinators. Reports said that international project team, on October, had selected the 1000 women from over 2,000 from 153 countries.

A total of 147 women from the SAARC region have been nominated for the award, which includes 91 Indian, 19 Pakistani, 16 Bangladeshi, 12 Sri-Lankans and 9 Nepalis.

According to 1000 Women peace "The project 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005 defined as its objective the nominating of 1000 women to represent collectively the millions above-mentioned. The life stories, the visions, methods, strategies and networks of these 1000 women will be publicized. With this recognition they should receive both encouragement and gratitude for their commitment.

After almost three years' work, we are happy to introduce these 1000 women to you here. Their short biographies were compiled by local journalists and authors, as well as by academics and by members of organizations. These biographies give us insight into the life and work of each of the 1000 women. They also reflect the cultural differences involved in evaluating personal data. To satisfy any curiosity for further information, a book on the 1000 women will appear in autumn 2005". It said.

It is very necessary that women understands the important of the peace, conflicts, terrorism and war. At present, violence, murder, war, terrorism are some ugly realities which have been plaguing societies. While in one hand terrorism is being difficult to control, on the other hand, poverty is on the rise. Similarly children and women are victims of terrorism and war.

As we know, women believe, if they are given an opportunity to make their voice heard, the chances for lasting peace will improve immeasurably. Women have painful experience arising from the uncontrolled flows of arms.

Peace resolution, in women's terms, should include, the outcome should address the underlying problems, it should be jointly determined; and the process should achieve at least some degree of satisfaction for the parties concerned.

The painful realization that the peace movement would to some extent also follow a patriarchal model caused a serious dilemma for women-pacifists. Women want their presence to be visible.

Maintenance of national security and peace is an important factor for economic growth and development and the empowerment of women. We should not forget during times of armed conflict, the role of women is crucial. Women make an important contribution as peace educators. Women are excellent teachers of peace in this process that will evolve into a balanced.

To date women's views on the war and their solutions to it have not been heard nor have women been involved in initiatives to bring the sides together.

Women have to deal with violent situation, sexual situation, trafficking and poverty. Women are also account for the most number of civilian casualties in war. It is the war that has forced women and children in particular to pay a terrible price for the situation of insecurity.

Peace resolution through governance requires an analysis of all the relevant actors that fuel the sources of war.

Any party involved in violent conflicts should take special measures to protect women and civilians. They should also respect particularly the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women and its Optional Protocol of 1999, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, to ratify the Rome Statute setting up the International Criminal Court, and implement the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

Another important work which needs to be done is to conduct awareness raising programs for young girls who are likely to be war victims. Networking among the NGOs of Nepal, GOs and LNGOs concerned with issues of peace and women is essential.

Many institutions and researchers have conducted studies on the prevention of war and have made valuable recommendations. We must work together so war can be ended within a decade. It is not easy and can not be achieved quickly. Everyone needs to contribute to this effort.
