Scoop Feedback: Should New Zealand Cricket's Black Caps tour Zimbabwe?
As New Zealand continues to debate whether the Black Caps should go to Zimbabwe, Amnesty International cited reports that at least three have died -- including a pregnant woman and a four-year-old child. New Zealand Cricket however says if it pulled out of the tour, it would face millions of dollars in fines to the International Cricket Council. The Government's foreign minister Phil Goff is pressuring NZ Cricket to call the tour off.
What do you think?
Here is an example of what Scoop's audience thinks about the matter.
No - NZ Cricket should neither send nor receive any touring party to or from Zimbabwe. Mugabe's human rights abuses mean the international community must take action to prevent human suffering.
That said, it was interesting to hear Labour's Phil Goff last night on National Radio claim the NZ cricketers should not tour because Robert Mugabe practised `arbitrary detention', among other things. Isn't this the same NZ Labour government that arbitrarily detained Ahmed Zaoui for almost 2 years, and still wants him imprisoned or deported?
