Russell Brown and the Book Council launched the Great New Zealand Argument: Ideas About Ourselves last night at the Film Archive in Wellington. After an introduction from Russell, the audience were treated to a video of the famous Lange Oxford Union debate speech which is included in transcript form in Russell’s new book. This was followed with a panel argument about New Zealand featuring Public Address’s Che Tibby, Jim Traue (who wrote Ancestors of the Mind: A Pakeha Whakapapa, one of the essay’s in the book), Frontseat Producer Gemma Gracewood and Russell.
