    - Australian beauty therapist Schapelle Corby has been found guilty of drug trafficking by a court in Bali Indonesia of trafficking 4 kilograms of marijuana to Indonesia.     Goff Tells Security Council Current UN Peacekeeping Policy Not Working

    Police 111 Failure Caused Deaths At Sea - Hide

    - ACT leader Rodney Hide claims to have released recordings of a failed rescue attempt of a vessel in distress. He says the tragedy occurred because of a Police 111 communications centre failure. Hide states: "UPDATE: Remember the Iron Maiden? The police North Comms failed for nearly two hours to launch the helicopter with two men in the water. They died. I now have the audio recordings of the desperate attempts of the Rescue Co-ordination Centre New Zealand to get the police to get the helicopter launched," Rodney Hide wrote.     NZ Olympic Committee On The Prowl For Torchbearers

    Scoop Report: U.S. Senate Blocks Bolton From UN Ambassadorship

    - Alastair Thompson reports that the US Senate vote for cloture on the John Bolton nomination to the United Nations Ambassadorship has failed to pass. 56 Senators voted for cloture and 42 against the motion. As a result the full vote on John Bolton's nomination will not be held. Mr Bolton's nomination is one of the most controversial issues that has come before the Senate this year. In practical terms this is likely to mean that it will be another eight or nine days before the Republican Party can attempt to push the nomination through again. See...     FBI Admits Military Impersonated State Dept Officials During Guantánamo Interrogations

    - NEW YORK -- Documents released by the FBI state that Defense Department personnel impersonated State Department officials in interrogations at Guantánamo Bay, the American Civil Liberties Union said today. "Defense Department interrogators, possibly on instructions from high-level officials, went to great lengths to avoid being held accountable for the use of unlawful interrogation methods," said Jameel Jaffer, a staff attorney with the ACLU.
