Labour Caucus Motion Of Censure Of John Tamihere MP
The following is the full text of the motion of censure passed by the Labour Caucus this morning concerning miscreant MP John Tamihere:
That this caucus:
Severely censures John Tamihere for his grossly offensive comments which run counter to the NZ Labour Party's principles, policies of inclusion, and respect for all;
Rejects the views he has expressed, and dissociates the NZ Labour Party from them;
Deplores his ill disciplined behaviour;
Notes his statement, that in the run-up to the General Election he will be putting all his efforts into winning the Maori Electorates for Labour. And notes that this is consistent with his duty as a Labour MP to campaign strongly for the re-election of the Labour-led Government;
States its expectation that he will in future operate in a way which is consistent with the principles and policies of the NZ Labour Party, and which is within accepted decent norms of behaviour towards his caucus colleagues, the wider Labour Party and the diverse groups which make up contemporary NZ.
