STORY:
Pope
John Paul II Dies
[1] Statement from chief Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls on Pope John Paul II’s death. "The Holy Father died at 9:37 (2:37 EST) this evening in his private apartment. The Holy Father's final hours were marked by the uninterrupted prayer of all those who were assisting him in his pious death, and by the choral participation in prayer of the thousands of faithful who, for many hours, had been gathered in St. Peter's Square." Hawke's Bay DHB Begins Meningococcal B
Vaccinations
- The Meningococcal B (MeNZB™) immunisation programme will soon be taken out into the far reaches of Hawke's Bay. Vaccination is free to all children and young people aged between six months and 20 years old. But there is concern about the numbers of babies and preschoolers, as well as those under 20 who’ve already left school, who might miss out because of access. See... Darfur:
Food Theft And Corruption Threatens Survival Of
Millions
[1] - Shootings, attacks on drivers and thefts of
contracted trucks carrying critically needed food aid in
Sudan’s war-ravaged western Darfur region are seriously
threatening the ability of the United Nations World Food
Programme (WFP) to assist millions of people at a time when
needs are increasing daily, the agency said today. “The
security situation is so bad that many drivers are now
refusing to move through sections of the road corridors to
the three Darfur states,” WFP country director Ramiro Lopes
da Silva said of the region. See... Theft

The Rise of Black Propaganda and Dirty War Tactics
(Again)
- Washington’s efforts to discredit the Venezuelan Government have increased over the past few weeks. Tactics and strategies applied in prior years attempting to overthrow the Chávez administration through a coup d’etat, an illegal oil industry strike that crippled the Venezuelan economy and a constitutional recall referendum on Chávez’s mandate infused with illegal campaign contributions by the U.S. government to the Venezuelan opposition, all failed miserably. lived in Baglung. When the conflict broke out in October
1996, we took refuge in another area. Meanwhile we have a
house in Baglung. But we cannot go there because there is
hatred, and robbery is widespread. We'd like to go home. If
we could, our problems would be partly resolved". See... Mass
