Scoop Report: AIDS-cases in Germany have been increasing over the last two years and the German government fears a significant spread of HIV-infections in Germany will continue.
A report by the German Ministry of Social Affairs, reports in the magazine “Focus” that the reasons for this spread are numerous.
The report found that Germany will face an increase in HIV infected people and consequential rise in the number of AIDS cases.
There are numerous reasons for the increase, but the report predicts a continued and significant increase among the German heterosexual community due to a rise in German tourists using Eastern European prostitutes. AIDS-cases have been increasing throughout Eastern Europe, where more than 1.5 million people are infected with the HI-Virus.
Scientists say education is vital to curb the rise in HIV/AIDS. Awareness of how to prevent being infected with HIV, and, awareness of how debilitating HIV and AIDS is, is essential.
Osamah Hamouda from the
Robert-Koch-Institute emphasized: “In the consciousness of
the population the HI-Virus has lost its imminence.” This
was a dangerous trend, he
continued.
