The Dog Skin Report: That Distance Thing

The Dog Skin Report: That Distance Thing

http://www.dogskinreport.com

Friends,

I should say this from the outset. To get the full story, check the web site, where hyperlinks allow you to explore the matters in greater depth.

That said, many thanks for those who have taken the time to read and write over the past few days.

It seems my essay on American Values struck a real cord. Traffic at Dogskinreport.com has increased ten fold since it was posted. Many thanks to Buzzflash.com, Makethemaccountable.com and others who found it worthy of reposting and the many who took the time to comment.

For those of you who missed it, see it at:

That is not our only post since Nov. 2. We have been busy with daily features about Theft 2004. Bottom line: you still think Kerry lost, you still believe in Iraqi WMD's. And if you want to stay current, check Dogskinreport.com at least once a day.

But let's move on. We have just posted a piece that comes to us via our friends at Scoop.co.nz.

For those new to the know, New Zealand-based Scoop is one fantastic site and to this dog their commentary on American politics is superior to 99% of domestic hounds.

Perhaps it's that "distance" thing, that crazy little something called "perspective."

Scoop was one of the first to carry Bev Harris' ground-breaking pieces on Black Box Voting and they continue to lead the way.

More on that in the coming days, but let's get straight to the meat. In the piece below, Scoop's master of ceremonies, Alstair Thompson, dares say what the US press will not: Americans are committing war crimes in Iraq.

Those feeding on mainstream US press pablum probably missed the news a few days ago about Iraq casualties. Approximately 100,000 Iraqi civilians have apparently died as a result of the US-led invasion and occupation. The majority are believed to be women and children.

Please read that again: The US invasion of Iraq is estimated to have killed 100,000 civilians. Couple that with the post-Gulf War I sanctions, which UNICEF said resulted in the deaths of half a million Iraqi children, and we are talking genocide. And for what? To remove a petty despot?

For those that would label this statement "anti-American" I would gently suggest that you shove it. Jesus wasn't American. He was Jewish. And despite the actions of those who kill in his name, in some places he is still remembered as the "Prince of Peace."

A big tip of the hat to Al & Co. at Scoop for daring to label the pretender both cloth and values challenged.

Perhaps if we Yankees could get a bit more perspective, we might rediscover what is so clear from afar. Perhaps we might begin to understand the importance of that "distance" thing.
