12 00 News with Will - followed by weather, surf.
12.15 Dick Hubbard.
From Muesli to mayor? Thats what the full page ad he's taken out in The Herald is asking. (Meant rhetorically we assume...) Cereal maker, philanthropist and Auckland's latest mayoral hopeful is on the show today.
12 30 Australian Nauru expert Professor Helen Hughes.
Professor Hughes is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies and author of their influential report Aid Has Failed the Pacific, which questioned the efficacy of Australia's aid distribution. The state of Nauru's finances was a prime topic at the Pacific Island's Forum. The nation has run, as Hughes has it, a riches-to-rags course, from one of the richest countries in the world thirty years ago to one a country on the verge of bankruptcy. We will be talking to Professor Hughes about how we got to this point, and if current aid policies may be seen as partly culpable.
1 10 Selwyn Manning of scoop.co.nz, with his bi-weekly feature Counter-Clockwise exposing the stories lurking behind international headlines.
1 30 Michelanne Forster, Broadcasting School,Christchurch Polytech.
Michelanne filmed a documentary at the Jewish Holocaust Centre in Melbourne, recording survivors talking about their experiences. We grab Michelanne to talk about the experience and the film.
