NEWSFLASH: Donna Awatere Gets To Stay - Wins Costs Against ACT
In a Court of Appeal judgment just delivered Donna Awatere-Huata has won the right to stay in Parliament as an independent MP and has won court costs against the ACT Party, for whom she was elected.
ACT has been trying to get her chucked out of Parliament under the so-called "Party Hopping" legislation.
The ACT Party effectively expelled Mrs Awatere-Huata after she was charged in connection with the use of money from the Pipi foundation. Mrs Awatere-Huata has denied the charges and is intending to defend them in court.
