Dear President Carter: A plea from an American voter...

* * * * * Update: SAIC, one of the main contractors for the Pentagon, has been engaged by the state of Maryland to write a report on the Diebold machines. This firm has conflicts of interest:
1) It is involved in the electronic voting industry
2) It stands to benefit financially from weapons contracts depending on who is elected
We believe it would be more appropriate to evaluate the Diebold machines with a consortium of experts from M.I.T., Carnegie-Mellon, Stanford, and Cal State Berkeley (the nation's top computer science universities), thus keeping the evaluation impartial and in the public domain, or, since thousands of citizens already downloaded all the Diebold files, by opening the evaluation out to all of America, providing awards for the analyses which are the most valuable and accurate.
