Good Citizens Have Had A Stomach Full Of Officials

The High Court has been told that thousands and thousands of good law abiding citizens from North Cape to the Bluff, the vast majority of whom have never been to Court, have had a complete and utter stomach full of officials breaching their statutory obligations and fidcuiary duty towards them. Maree Howard writes.

In a scathing submission written by a person representing himself and provided to Scoop, the High Court has been told:- " It is of the utmost importance that this Court understands the reasons why this case is being pursued vigorously."

"Officials frequently breach their obligations and ride roughshod over citizens rights relying on citizens ignorance of the law to bluff those citizens."

"Of the minimal cases which go to Court citizens are often involved in horrendous expense while officials use other people's money and when they lose, just laugh and walk away unaffected"

"This whole problem is reaching epidemic proportions in this country."

"Therefore we believe it is time officials had 'their wings clipped."

"Would the Honourable Judge please read my letter dated 26/02/2002 to the Chief Justice of New Zealand (Dame Sian Elias) to further understand what I'm on about."

Scoop cannot reveal the background of this case because the High Court judge did not strike out this mans claim as the "bureaucrats" asked the Court to do, so it is still before the Court and yet to be fully heard.

This submission to the High Court should be causing alarm bells to ring in Government.

Coupled with the recent revelations about people in the Immmigration Department allegedly lying in unison, the IRD illegally accessing peoples files - and didn't Rodney Hide write a book about tax officials breaching their statutory obligations and fiduciary duties a few years ago - the revelations about ACC's behaviour towards claimants exposed by Scoop and other media, all means that the Courts will be clogged for some time to come.

But it's not just local. The Bush/Blair invasion of Iraq violated almost every rule of international law - and I see that Brussels has now removed war crimes offences meaning that Bush and Blair can now safely travel there without risk of being arrested.

Then there's the United States Diebold voting machine scandal first exposed by Scoop a couple of week ago.

Add all this together and it sure seems that honsety, integrity, scruples and ethics have flown out the window of the political and bureaucratic class, not only in New Zealand, but globally.

Just where does this leave our young people - the leaders of tomorrow. What must they be thinking? One young lad of about 17 recently told me that he hated this country - what an indictment.

What chance for a good future and peace when our young people see the record of a generation of liars, cheats, and manipulators involved in running this country and the globe.

Is it any wonder our youngsters flock together in their own peer groups? Who else do they trust, who do they look to for leadership, or guidance and direction? Who are their role models - a pop star, a celebrity or a sports star who themselves are caught in the spotlight of fleeting and elusive fame.

Is it any wonder our youngsters believe that if something feels good to them they should do it - whatever it takes. Who cares? Certainly not the older generation who they see are corrupt - and we prove that corruption to our youngsters almost every single day.

Stalin called the "willing administrators" (the bureaucrats) useful idiots. I'm beginning to think he was right!

Until the Government Minister's accept responsibility and the accountability for their departments and the Parliament and its politicians exercise their proper role in society as our representatives, nothing will change and human rights violations will continue. At the moment it's divide and rule.

That's not the type of country that I want to leave as a legacy to our youngsters when I die.
