Stateside with Rosalea: Fury Logic

I can't help myself. I just had to turn on a right-wing drivetime radio show this morning. Got there just in time to hear them open their "international scumbag" story file. Made me wish I'd been listening yesterday after Peter Arnett got fired to see what they thought about it.

Today's international scumbag was a doctor in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, whose anti-war tactic is to refuse to see American and British patients. I can't give you a transcript of what the radio host said but here's the salient points, put in quotation marks so you don't mistake them for my opinion.

"I don't know anything about him, but I suppose he's one of those people who wish Adolph Hitler was still alive, and admire Saddam Hussein because he's like Hitler. I wonder how old he is. If he was born before 1945, we should have shot the bastard then."

That pretty much sums up the whole right-wing argument against anyone waging anti-war. 1) If they don't support USUK, then they must support Saddam and, since he's earned the name 'butcher of Baghdad', anyone who is anti-war is a fascist. (THAT should rile up those scumbag commies out in the streets protesting against the war!) 2) Shoot the ungrateful bastards.

Ironically, at the weekend I read a piece in the newspaper by a columnist who was questioning the strength of the "coalition of the willing" by deriding what they seemed to think were international nonentities who'd joined it. Australia was the example they gave. Love 'em or leave 'em, there's just no pleasing USUK, it seems.
