HARD NEWS 12/02/03 - Everybody's Up!
Hi folks,
All the bloggers have blogged, so it's time for another post. Chad has been talking to Linda Clark and I've been listening to her. Rob's back, Damon's going away, Jolisa's dumpster-diving in the Big Apple and Debra has teenage sons.
Enjoy.
Cheers, RB

Russell Brown's Hard News
I know what it's like trying to manage a radio interview:
one eye on the clock, the other on your questions, trying to
balance interrogation with elicitation. And then there's
always someone emailing to tell you what you ought to have
done and said...

Now playing in the Muse Lounge
After successful
careers helming a late night news programme that was
cancelled and a magazine that closed, Linda Clark has
adopted radio and a sexy mom image: her name never appears
in print without mention of her twins, of which she has two.
I kind of like her, actually. She interviewed me this
morning about - well, ostensibly about the book (which I'm
"plugging", she said), but basically about myself. "We know
so little about ...

Rob O'Neill live in
Sydney
I flew in to sunny Auckland on Friday and
immediately and unexpectedly got embroiled in a stag night
around the viaduct. All aged 30+ as far as I could see, we
were playing drinking golf, a game in which 18 nominated
drinks each get a par rating. You keep track of how many
gulps you take at each to score...

Damian Christie - Cracker With Attitude
Just a quick
note to let y'all know that I'm off on a travel writing
junket for a couple of weeks in the Whitsunday Islands. I
mention this by way of giving myself a valid excuse for
being bottom of the posting list for the next fortnight,
rather than in a lauding-it-over way...

Jolisa
Gracewood in NYC
You find some pretty cool things in the
trash in a city this size. I'm always on the lookout for
discarded goodies, and have scored some fabulous free stuff
- chairs, baskets, house-plants. But this was different:
more than a trash treasure, it was a perfect metaphor for
how things are right now, just sitting there, leaning up
against a pile of garbage bags. I would have pounced on it,
had I not been in ...

Debra Daley's astral
plane
Sunday afternoon and I am alone in the world. That
is because my son has been on DDR Freak for so long now that
people have stopped trying to call me. I can only be
contacted telepathically. My phone is always engaged.
Engaged because of stepmania , engaged because of
benamistyle . But that's OK, because I understand obsession,
or "focus" as I like to call it when ...
