LV Races called off for second day
Louis Vuitton Principal Race Officer Peter Reggio has postponed all races for the second consecutive day.
Reggio’s call came at 7:30am. The Louis Vuitton Cup Notice of Race and Conditions stipulate that no race shall be started if the five-minute moving average true wind speed is more than 19 knots at any time during the 15 minutes prior to the preparatory signal.
The recordings are made on the race committee boat at the top of a mast 10 metres off the water.
Auckland’s weather forecast displays a west to southwest flow covers the North Island. The front is expected to cross northern New Zealand this evening. There is a wind warning in force with a westerly gusting 25 knots to 35 knots becoming southwest this evening. It is expected to ease to 20 knots in the morning with rough seas also easing. The outlook until midnight Friday is southwest winds at 15 knots, and becoming fine.
