Re: Oppressed to Oppressor - the atrocities unfold also, first published on Spectator.co.nz
Dear Mr. Selwyn Manning,
Thank you for your support. The situation has escalated so quickly. I am sure you have received reports on the forced entries into homes, the killing of individuals in their homes, the destruction of roads, buildings and stores, the mass arrests, and the total curfew and closure of Ramallah prohibiting even medical personnel and journalist to move about.
It is very likely that we will not know the extent of the damage and destruction until they withdraw their forces because they are not allowing anyone to move about.
Yesterday,
there was continuous bombardment of the city except for the
two hours when the Israeli army lifted the curfew and
allowed us to leave our homes after five days of continuous
curfew to buy
food.
Even then we received reports that some individuals, including a 14 year-old boy, were shot by Israeli snipers when they attempted to leave their home. Also many of the stores had already run out of bread, milk and water - the very basics which most houses are in dire need of.
The water has been cut off and the Palestinian water company is not being allowed to go and fix pipes that have been destroyed.
Many people are living without electricity and with limited supplies of food.
Wishing you all the best,
External Relations Officer Birzeit University
