Scoop Images: The View From The Summit
More images of the environs of the most photogenic mountain village in the world taken by Norman Mackay .
Norman writes:
“I managed a walk up to the summit of that great mountain, Ben Ohau a couple of days ago, and I took some great photos. The weather was great, maybe a little on the hot side, but the skies were beautifully clear. Ben Ohau is 5,000 ft high with a rough track for most of the way. The last 500 feet is hard going with no track at all. It has a telecom radio repeater mast on the summit, and that is all..
My dog Jade was with me all the way, ( much younger and fitter than me )..”
The first photo is looking up towards the Hopkins valley - NW direction, with Mt Glen Mary on the right, which stands some 10,000 feet and is ice covered all year round.
The second photo speaks for itself - my dog Jade on the summit of Ben Ohau at 5,000 feet.
