Yesterday West Coasters crossed the Cook Strait and converged on Parliament to protest Conservation Minister Sandra Lee’s decision to veto consent for Australian mining company GRD Macraes to extend a hard rock gold mining proposal on conservation land at Reefton. Environmental groups organised a counter protest in support of Sandra Lee’s decision.
