Sludge Report #85

Dubya Takes His Weather With Him To Europe

US President George W. Bush leaves today for his first trip as Commander in Chief to Europe, and from the look of NOAA’s supercomputer weather forecasts, he will be taking his inclement weather with him.

According to the NOAA medium range forecast model, the would be environmental vandal’s European sojourn will be marked by, rain, rain and more rain, and falling mercury.

The low pressure weather system pictured above is presently in the Atlantic to the west of Ireland (see top image). It is set to come ashore during his visit (see forecast picture above) bringing rain and cold through most of Europe.

The following is a pictorial representation of Dubya’s five day European tour. As can be seen rain, although not a great deal, is forecast to accompany him at every stopover, and he is travelling widely. The rain is shown in the coloured areas of the maps.

Dubya Leaves His Weather Behind

Ironically while global warming is set to be a hot topic of conversation during Dubya’s tour of the old world, by the time he leaves, mid-summer European temperatures are forecast to have fallen to unseasonably low levels.

And, according to the NOAA supercomputer forecast, after he leaves, Europe will keep getting colder for at least three days.

Falling Mercury Over Europe

The picture above shows temperatures on June 19th, three days after Bush finishes his trip. The blue areas show temperatures in the low teens. This might be thought of, thinks Sludge, as the cold shoulder to end all cold shoulders.
