An Open Letter To The Dominion Newspaper
Re: Cate Blanchett and Galadriel's Evil Sister.

I believe you've reprinted that UK Times article on Cate Blanchett, complete with the references to her role as
Galadriel, sister of the evil Queen Beruthiel who imprisons the Fellowship of the Ring in Lothlorien?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going by hearsay.
The UK Times article has been one of the most successful Tolkien-related practical jokes we've seen and for the last few
weeks it's been the laughing stock of anyone that's read The Lord of Rings with any attention.
(And we still don't know who's responsible for gulling the journalist...)
The joke is that the reporter needed to do his research in a hurry, and some prankster (we presume) directed them to the
'Tolkien Sarcasm Page' where they happily copied off the 'Lord of the Rings Plot Summary' on a page called 'Your
Homework done for you.' Which ends, "Now we've done your homework for you, will you come and mow our lawns?" Perhaps if
they'd read that far, they would have got a bit suspicious.
You can check it out yourselves for a bit of a giggle:
So the line about the Evil Queen Beruthiel etc is a load of old cobblers.
I'm ashamed of you folks for not picking up on that!
Cheers,
