The Gisborne Cervical cancer inquiry has been given a three week extension Health Minister Annette King said today.
Speaking at the post cabinet press conference today, Ms King confirmed the inquiry would continue for another week this month, and would resume in September for another two weeks.
The extension will allow more witnesses to be heard for the inquiry into former Gisborne Pathologist Michael Bottrill. It would also allow a Canadian pathologist, who has already given evidence, to return in September.
The final report on the inquiry is now expected to be released at the end of December.
