Child, Youth & Family invites media to attend the official opening of the new, 30-bed youth justice residential centre in Palmerston North at 9am on Thursday October 14.
The ceremony to open the Lower North Youth Justice Residential Centre will be held at the new facility in Mohaka Place.
The centre is the first of three purpose-built youth justice residences to be opened under Child, Youth & Family's Residential Services Strategy. The Maori kaupapa for the centre - Ka Hinga Koe Me Tu Koe (As you have fallen, you will be uplifted) - reflects the facility's focus on rehabilitating young offenders.
Speakers at the opening will include Child, Youth & Family's chief executive Jackie Brown and the Minister of Social Services, Work and Income.
