CYPFA has today signed an accord with Te Komiti Arai Take Manaaki, an advisory group which will provide the new
Department of Child, Youth and Family Services with advice on issues relating to Maori.
The signing ceremony was held at the Paranui Marae in Horowhenua. CYPFA general manager Jackie Brown says the new
department's executive management team will need ongoing advice on issues associated with the delivery of services to
Maori.
"So I am very pleased we have been able to establish this accord with Te Komiti Arai Take Manaaki," says Ms Brown, who
is chief executive designate of the new department, which becomes operational on October 1.
"Te Komiti Arai Take Manaaki will collaborate with the department on the development of policies, practices and
procedures for the needs of Maori. Like the new department, it is committed to moving towards social service provision
by Maori, for Maori," says Ms Brown.
