GENERAL ELECTION ENROLMENT CONFIRMATION LETTERS SENT OUT - 500,000 ELECTORS STILL TO ENROL
ELECTORS CAN ALSO CHECK ENROLMENT STATUS ON-LINE
Half a million eligible electors are still not enrolled for this year's general election and will not receive an
enrolment confirmation letter when these are sent out tomorrow.
Electoral Enrolment Centre National Manager Murray Wicks said that from Friday 16 July, around 2.2 million letters will
be sent to all new electors and electors who re-enrolled for the election before the preliminary rolls closed on 25
June.
"These letters will confirm the elector's current enrolment details and will include information on how MMP works, a map
of their electorate, and a flyer for advising future changes of address.
"If you haven't received a letter by Wednesday 21 July then you are not enrolled for the election. There is still time
to enrol but you should do this as soon as you can. Enrolment forms are available at any Post Shop, by calling 0800
ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or by downloading or requesting one from the elections website at www.elections.org.nz."
Mr Wicks said that preliminary electoral rolls for this year's general election will be available for inspection at all
Post Shops, public libraries and courthouses from Tuesday 20 July.
"Eligible electors who aren't listed on the rolls should complete an enrolment form."
Mr Wicks said that registered electors could also check their enrolment status at the elections website
www.elections.org.nz.
"Electors just need to click on the 'check your enrolment details' button on the home page and then follow the simple
steps. The website has also got lots of useful information about enrolling and the electoral process."
