New Zealand bands in Internet broadcast from Queenstown
Three concerts by New Zealand bands in Queenstown this week are being broadcast live on the Internet.
The bands are performing in the Kiwi Fringe Music Festival at the 1999 Air New Zealand Queenstown Winter Festival.
Groups featured include Garageland, Stellar* and Delta from Auckland, local Queenstown band Zero and Wellington's Fur Patrol.
Fans can log on to www.queenstown.com to hear the concerts on Sunday (July 11), Wednesday (July 15) and Saturday (July 17).
The doors for each concert on Sunday open at 7.30pm and the music director for the festival says he expects the concerts to begin about 8pm.
Mathurin Molgat, who has been involved in the Queenstown Festival for six years, said interest in the shows was high and the concerts had been moved to a new bigger venue at the Queenstown Car Museum.
"It's a wonderful, big venue and a great compliment to the bands and New Zealand music that we can use the museum," he said. "These are going to be big concerts."
Mr Molgat said the venue could hold more than one thousand people and ticket sales were solid. A big screen would also project the bands' performances to the audiences.
Queenstown residents could buy tickets at Play It Again.
