(Headline abbreviated, original headline: Why the affects of medicinal cannabis can be different for different people?)
Medicinal Cannabis is going to have a different effect on different people according to your metabolic make up. Other factors are the type of strain you use, what part of the country it was grown in and the method of delivery into your body.
Method of delivery:
The advantage of smoking or vaping is that it’s instant, which allows you to self titrate. That means you can easily stop when you have had enough. The disadvantage of smoking is that it is not good idea to take smoke into your lungs, especially by force. Getting cannabinoids into your system through your lungs, is the least effective way of getting cannabinoids into your system, yielding only about 20% of the possible uptake.
Edibles are a more effective way to get cannabinoids. You can uptake around 50% of available cannabinoids to by eating. The negatives are that you must know how to transfer cannabinoids out of the plant into a form to ingest, like butter, fat, oil, etc. And, it takes 20 minutes to start to feel the effects, on an empty stomach. Or up to two hours if you just had a huge meal.
Anal. Just before you prejudge this method, you need to know that you will get around an 80% uptake of cannabinoids using this method. It’s not much fun putting raw plant material up your butt, so you also need to know how to get the medicine out of the plant and into an oil which can then be used as a suppository.
Belly Button, I have tried this a number of times and can recommend it as a calming and meditative practice. I often do Belly Button, Anal and Edible all together. It’s great for PTSD administered at bed time or if you need support to meditate.
Skin, as a Balm or Ointment. I have had relief in seconds, administering cannabis roots as a balm. It brings down inflammation and pain immediately on application.
It would depend on which physiological system(s) you are dealing with as to which method you would choose. However, I would suggest to start out slow, and increase gradually.
The 2 Major types of cannabis plants are Sativa and Indica.
Each strain has it's own range of effects on the body and mind resulting in a wide range of medicinal benefits.
Sativa strains tend to provide a more energizing experience.
Indica strains generally provide a sense of deep body relaxation.
Sativa leaves have the traditional “weed leaf” appearance usually associated with cannabis. Sativa is the stimulant. Where Indica is the relaxer.
Indica cannabis strains are usually a better sleep aid than sativas, which are typically thought of as more energizing marijuana varieties.
Knowing if an indica or sativa is better for sleeping depends on many things, including your personal needs and how a certain strain affects you.
Indicas emit a much more pungent and skunky profile. These will let the people around you know you have weed in your pocket much faster than a sativa will.
Indica plants typically grow faster and have a higher yield than the sativa variety. Medicine produced from cannabis Indica plants have higher CBD and lower THC counts. The major qualities of indica medicinal strains include: increased mental relaxation.
Generally speaking, indicas are best for physical ailments such as pain and inflammation, and sativas are best for mental conditions such as depression and ADHD. However, there are certainly exceptions based on the individual.
Hybrids can take after either parent, or be a blend of both. The goal is usually to create a strain with desirable characteristics from each parent that is specific for you as an individual.
