The Masonic Villages Trust is pleased to announce the re-opening of its dementia suite of seven beds at Edale in Marton on the 13th May 2019.
Following the merger of the Edale Aged Care Centre and The Masonic Villages Trust, Facility Manager Anthea Kingi says they have spent the past year investigating how best they could support the community’s needs, and what the area needs in the way of aged care.
“We discovered we were extremely low on the availability of dementia beds and thanks to Masonic Villages Trust, we can continue giving the community what they need.
“We’re absolutely excited, there has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes preparing for this day, making sure we’ve got the right qualified staff on board within the dementia unit and the rest home.
“So, we just want to open the doors and see if all our preparation and hard work will pay off for our residents.”
Edale Masonic Village also provides 22 rest home beds and has a thriving retirement community, with residents cared for by highly trained staff.
Additionally, they have an experienced diversional therapist who provides residents with a weekly programme of activities and outings.
To date, two beds in the dementia unit have been filled with a further addition for respite care in the following week, Ms Kingi says.
