Te Kōhao Health is hosting an Open Day this Friday 29 March 8.30am-5pm at its Wellness Centre called, Ngā Puna Wai
Oranga in Hamilton.
“Our Health framework for Māori at Ngā Puna Wai Oranga is treating whānau with a spectrum of needs, non-evasively with
noticeable success.
We now want to open our doors to invite our entire community in to see why we focus on early intervention and how our
approach improves life quality,” says Lady Tureiti Moxon, Managing Director of Te Kōhao Health.
“We know Maori-led solutions work and the current public health system does not. We brought our recommendations to the
attention of the Waitangi Tribunal in our closing submissions this month in the historic Health Services & Outcomes Inquiry.”
Ngā Puna Wai Oranga is unique within New Zealand due to being the only single site destination offering the following
specialised medical devices; hyperbaric oxygen chambers, pulse electro- magnetic field therapy mats and Niagra therapy.
The District Health Board does not offer all of this equipment at one dedicated location currently.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to experience free 10 – 15 minute trials of all the apparatus during the
Open Day.
Currently Ngā Puna Wai Oranga clients’ present a range of conditions such as: Stroke, diabetic ulcers, wound healing,
chronic pain, eczema, depression and anxiety, cerebral palsy, ACC sports injuries, arthritis, hypertension, autism,
fibromyalgia and insomnia.
“What is on offer here enables patients to a better quality of life without all the side effects of medication or
surgery. It helps speed up the healing process significantly,” says Cara Gane, Medical Adviser, of The Circulation
Clinic.
Hyperbaraic is a specialised therapy that uses an increase in the atmospheric pressure to allow the body to incorporate
more oxygen into the blood cells, blood plasma, cerebral-spinal fluid and joint fluids at greater volume.
Pulse electro-magnetic field therapy mats assist circulation and cell metabolism through a pulsed magnetic field that
vibrates through the body.
Niagara therapy is a cycloid vibration therapy pioneered 70 years ago that aims to increase circulation and accelerate
the natural recovery time of the body.
